Is there any way to identify when #3 has happened? I ran into a situation that looks like that, where the local Polybase service wouldn't start because it didn't have CONNECT to ENDPOINT privilege. I had to re-grant public access to the TCP endpoint.

I wonder if this thread is still monitored. Have you had any issues with misplaced SPN's when you're using MSA's or gMSA's in SQL Server. Normal AD accounts don't seem to throw the misplaced warning. Logged with MS support who said this is likely to be a bug in the application.
